Heart Heathly

Healthy hearts require a daily regimen of diet and exercise.  Likewise to keep your spiritual heart healthy you must have a daily portion of the Bread of Life, God's Word.  Exercising spiritually is the fulfillment of the Word that you ingest daily.

Daily consumption of junk food will lessen the effects of the healthy food you consume.  Likewise, a diet of unhealthy living will decrease the effect that the daily reading of the Word brings to your life.

Chapter 6 of the book of John declares that Jesus is the bread of life.  Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. John 6:36.  I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." John 6:51.

Unfortunately, we live in a fast paced world and rely heavily on foods that can be prepared in a short amount of time.  We pick up a snack here and there and very rarely keep a log of what we consume.  Can this also be the case in our spiritual diet?  Do we search for the cliff notes of the Word of God?  Do we find ourselves consuming bits and pieces by snacking on the Word instead of taking the time to prepare a healthy, steady diet?

Let's eat of the "living bread" so that we will live forever with Jesus!
